Compatibility

This release uses Arnold 4.2.2.0 and OpenVDB 2.3.0.

Binaries available for the following Houdini or Houdini FX production builds:

  • 13.0.582
  • 13.0.547
  • 13.0.509

and for the following platforms:

  • Linux x86_64 (gcc4.4)
  • Windows 7 x64 (vc11)
  • Mac OS X 10.8+

Please note that Houdini Apprentice and Houdini Indie do not support third party renderers and thus cannot run HtoA.

Enhancements
  • OpenSubdiv compatible edge and vertex soft creases. You can control the sharpness with the Houdini Crease SOP or the creaseweight and creaseweight_point vertex and point attributes (#463)

  • New ARNOLD_PROCEDURAL_PATH environment variable that can optionally contain a list of directories to scan for procedurals (#479)

  • Light group controls on Arnold lights for the popular alSurface shader (#482)
  • Refactored the space_transform shader and included tangent space support and other enhancements (#392)
Fixes
  • Fixed NaNs in volume_collector, volume_sample_float and volume_sample_rgb in optimized builds (#374)

  • Fixed regression that disabled automatic node id generation for shapes (#477)

  • Emulate ROP initialization scripts, any scripts/out/arnold.py script found in the HOUDINI_PATH will now be properly executed. Like other initialization scripts, the created ROP's hou.Node object is found in kwargs['node']. Unlike the other ROP initialization scripts, you don't need to worry about recreating the render properties (#480).
  • Clustered volume bounding boxes are now correctly displayed (#475)

  • No labels
